Psychological Coverage Matrix

Every ad placed on the map your customers' minds actually use: emotional charge (Valence) against which version of themselves the ad speaks to (Self-Concept). Where you cluster is where you are predictable. The empty cells are the customers your competitors are not reaching.

Your Biggest Blind Spot

5b

Psychological Depth

The best ads stack psychological layers: each one is a job the ad does on the viewer, from stopping the scroll to making the case to driving the click. Most ads land 2-3 layers, strong ads 5-6, and grand slams all 7. The more an ad stacks, the harder it converts. This shows how deep the library goes and which emotional angle it leans on.

How many layers does each ad land?

Each ad scored 0-7 on how many psychological layers it lands. A healthy library leans right (more ads stacking 5+).

The 7 Psychological Layers (share of ads that land each)

The seven jobs a great ad does, in order:

  1. Attention — a hook or pattern interrupt that stops the scroll.
  2. Relevance — calls out the exact person or problem so they feel "this is me".
  3. Emotion — triggers a precise, named feeling (not vague positivity).
  4. Belief Shift — changes a wrong assumption or reframes the category.
  5. Proof — backs the claim with specifics, demonstration, numbers or testimonial.
  6. Desire — paints the after-state or future self the viewer wants.
  7. Action — a clear, friction-matched call to act.

EPIC Angle Mix

Every ad pulls on one of four core angles (EPIC). A balanced account uses all four; over-indexing on one means whole groups of buyers are never reached. Emotional = a precise feeling or pain. Practical = a functional problem and how the product solves it. Identity = who the buyer becomes or the tribe they join. Critical = challenges a wrong belief or myth-busts the category.

06

Awareness-Stage Distribution

Every ad speaks to a customer at a specific stage of awareness, from people who don't yet know they have a problem, to people ready to buy now. The balance reveals whether a brand is fishing for new customers or just harvesting the warm ones.

              Creative Maturity

Creative diversity is a ladder. Each rung reaches a wider slice of the market than the last. Most brands plateau at format variety and never climb into awareness, motivation, and true audience expansion, which is exactly where scalable growth lives.
